This exquisite tea caddy was made in Paris by noted French jeweler and silversmith Paul Sormoni, 1817-1887. His shop was located at 10 rue Charlot.
The design of this piece is both simple and ornate. The body of this tea caddy is very plain except for a small beaded border at the top. The cover of this piece is designed with a beaded edge over a leaf design surrounding the circumference of the piece. The top of the tea caddy's cover has a very ornate three initial, "LMC", monogram engraved on it. This piece is stamped on both the body and the cover with the boar's head, designating .800 silver, and Paul Sormoni's maker's mark. The condition is very good.
