This beautiful set of sterling salt and pepper servers was made in London in 1773 by silversmith Charles Hougham. They were crafted in the classic style with a simple body with two engraved line circling the pieces and being topped off with a beautiful beaded edge. The salt's bowl is gilded. If you look closely you will see that the salt was purposely made slightly lower than the pepper. There is an engraving on the back of each piece, "SWR & ERV from AV". This set of salt and peppers would be a wonderful addition for any collector of English silver.
