This exquisite cake server is made of American coin silver. It was made by Farrington & Hunnewell silversmiths of Boston, MA., circa 1835. The flat server is hand engraved with a leaf border surrounding a central floral design on a machine engraved background. The handle has a double line border encompassing an acorn motif. This piece is a superb example of mid 19-century craftsmanship. The condition of this server is very good with minor scratches due to normal wear. There is a two letter initial "EF" engraved at the top of the handle.
