This Danish silver sugar & creamer was made in Copenhagen by Danish silversmith Peter Hertz in 1904. The set is made from .826 silver which was the Danish silver standard at that time. What this means is that the purity, or fineness, of the silver is 82.6% differing from sterling silver, which most Americans are familiar with, which has purity ,or fineness, of 92.5%. This set is designed in the Empire style and the interior of both pieces are gilded.
The design of the set is very clean and simple until that simplicity is broken by a beautiful hand engraving which surrounds both pieces and is done in a variation of the "Greer Key" motif.
