This is a beautiful pair of muffineers made by the William Durgin silver co. of Concord, NH. These are not salt and pepper shakers as most people would think, though they can be used for that purpose. When they were created, circa 1885, they would have been used to sprinkle powder sugar, the silver top, or cinnamon, the gold plated top on to baked goods such as muffins. The craftsmanship is exquisite as exhibited by the beautiful hand engraving around the collar on each one of the pieces. Their condition is good.
