This item is truly a piece of history. This is a sterling silver money clip that was given out by British Airways to clients who booked flights on the Trans-Atlantic Concord. It was given as a premium or a thank you gift. The Concord started flying from London and Paris to New York on January 21, 1976. It flew at twice the speed of sound making it the first supersonic passenger service in history. It could make the flight from London to New York City in a touch over 3 hours. Th problem was that the plane was very costly to fly and could only carry between 92 and 128 passengers. Because of this, the price that was charged for the flight was prohibitive for most people. They tried to market the Concord as for the special few, the elite. Part of the marketing campaign was to give special gifts to the special few. This money clip was part of that campaign. It could not be bought, you could only receive one if you flew the Concord. This money clip was made in Birmingham, England in 1985 by TD LTD. Co.
Weight: .59 Troy oz.
