This extraordinary necklace is 54 inches (147 cm) long and is one, continuous string of 169 cultured pearls. It consists of 170 "A" quality, natural, cultured white pearls with a slight hint of pink. They are perfectly matched, round and flawless pearls with a lovely lustre. The size of each pearl is 7.6 mm. The necklace has just been beautifully re-knotted between each pearl and does not need re-stringing. The pearls have also been cleaned. It can be wrapped around the neck and worn in a number of ways: partly as a choker with a long strand; or doubled; or even as a triple strand.
The crowning glory of the necklace is the charming antique, 15K clasp, designed as a cuffed hand. The cuff is etched and the wrist sports a bracelet set with a natural sapphire. The hand reaches out for the pearls, with the thumb and fingers holding onto a ring which supports the pearls. On the forefinger, there is a small diamond, as if set in a ring. The hand clasp is 1¼ inches long (3 cm) and a ½ inch wide (1 cm). Both the hand and the tongue that fits into the hand clasp, are clearly marked 15K.
The necklace is vintage, made around the late 1980's.
The necklace comes in a long grey velvet box to fit the necklace.
