This is a wonderful piece of free-form, natural, Baltic amber. It is in a delicious, butterscotch colour, so enticing, one is tempted to take a bite. It is a triangular shape, at 2 inches long, and at its widest, 1½ inches across, and 16.8 mm deep. But oh, so light!

It hangs on tiny, etched silver beads (2.2 mm) made by the Karen hill tribes in Thailand.

The two woven silver boxes (15.5 mm) are also made by the Karen hill tribes.

Karen hill tribe Fair Trade silver is nearly 98% pure silver. I mostly choose to use their silver because each piece is like a miniature bit of sculpture, individually crafted and created. I know that artisans in Northern Thailand produce this unique silversmithing in small villages, involving whole families in the process. Their work is fairly paid, and as a result, their beads are much more expensive. But a family is supported and wonderful beads and jewellery are produced in high quality silver.

Two slices of cognac colour natural amber (approx.5.5 mm x 19 mm) are followed by two vintage carved, burnt nephrite jade cylinders (20.9 mm x 24.9 mm).

Two large octagonal, silver on hardened resin beads (23.8 mm), have been traditionally crafted in Afghanistan.

The silver beads lead onto polished onyx discs ( 24.8 mm) and coconut discs ( 20 mm).

Two transparent, natural cognac toned, liquid- looking amber nuggets, (varying in size, but roughly 20mm x 28mm) bring one onto two hammered silver discs ( 16.9 mm x 9 mm) made by the Karen hill tribes.

Two interesting shaped and worked beads of silver from South Korea (16.8 mm x 24 mm) are finally followed by two mat onyx breads (14 mm) and (7 mm) onyx beads.

A silver toggle clasp, also made by the Karen hill tribes has been used. They have twisted the silver wire to make a rope design. Toggle clasps are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.

The necklace comes, like all my necklaces, with it's own colour co-ordinated silk brocaded pouch bag, made by a Shanghai tailor.

The necklace is 17 ½ inches long with a 2- inch pendant drop.
