This striking piece of Cognac coloured natural glowing amber is set in an Art Nouveau style silver setting, full of detail and style. It is 1½ inches (4 cm) long by 1¼ inches wide (3.5 cm) and 11 mm deep.

The necklace itself is made up of natural, faceted cylinders of Tiger’s Eye in not only the more commonly known colour of gold but of blue and red. They are 17 mm. by 12 mm.
Tiger’s eye is a gemstone that is usually a metamorphic rock with golden to red-brown colours and a silky lustre. As a member of the quartz group, tiger’s eye is related to the blue-coloured mineral called hawk’s eye, again with the silky, lustrous appearance. The largest number of tiger’s eye stone can be found in South Africa and Thailand. The stone got its name because it resembles the eye of a tiger.

The silver is hammered (18 mm) and is made by the Karen hill tribes in Thailand. The four melon shaped silver beads are from Korea (15 mm).

Karen hill tribe Fair Trade silver is nearly 98% pure silver. I mostly choose to use their silver because each piece is like a miniature bit of sculpture, individually crafted and created. I know that artisans in Northern Thailand produce this unique silversmithing in small villages, involving whole families in the process. Their work is fairly paid, and as a result, their beads are much more expensive. But a family is supported and wonderful beads and jewellery are produced in high quality silver.

I have used a silver toggle clasp because are easy to use and secure. My silver name label is attached at the clasp.

The clasp is a 14K gold toggle clasp. I prefer using toggle clasps because they are easy to use and quite secure.

The necklace is 17 ¾ inches long (45 cm) with a 1 ½ inch pendant drop
