This is quite a stunner as a ring. It is Victorian, 15K gold (clearly marked on the inside of the ring’s shaft, along with the maker’s mark), set with a combination of three almandine garnets, an amethyst, and two dark emeralds. The interesting thing about the stones is that all are an oval shape, except for the larger, central garnet, which is more of a rectangle. This is clearly original and has not been altered.
Added to the stone, is the workmanship on the 15K gold shaft. All around the shaft, the craftsman has deeply etched scrolls. And around each stone there are gold bead elements. Supporting the stones, the gold has a cushioned, scroll design around the stones.
The ring size is US 5 ½ or UK K ½. The ring’s diameter is ¾ of an inch.
This ring is a richly coloured design, like something medieval in feeling. It is lovely one.
