While I love Victorian jewellery, Georgian work takes the craft to a whole new level. Perhaps it is because the Georgian period was supremely elegant, classical and quite romantic.
The Georgian cluster ring, made using the technique of a foiled backing behind flat garnets, is a traditional Georgian style. The foil gives the garnets (these are a brighter red garnet, more like a ruby) a sparkle. There are eight of these garnets. The inner circle consists eight, original, creamy white seed pearls. In the centre, there is a flat oval garnet, again, typically foiled.
The 9Kgold shaft (which is unmarked but tested), has three open work strands that appear to support the cluster, and these three strands become three lines around the shaft. The ring is ¾ of an inch in diameter, and is ring size US 8 and UK P½ .
Georgian rings are not common. So this is not only an enchanting ring to wear, but it is considered to be very collectable. Imagine, it has been around since around 1800, and what scenes this ring has seen.
