There was a time when Victorian finger rings like this were stacked on one finger, making a sumptuous display. However, this handsome 9K gold ring (clearly marked on the inside shaft, along with a maker’s mark nearly worn off) is enormously appealing on its own. The design of the gold shaft is still quite deeply carved. Three, faceted garnets in a lighter tone than the usually wine toned carnets, are almost like rubies in their brightness. Four natural seed pearls highlight the design.
The ring measures a US 6.5, or a UK M. It measures ¾ of an inch in diameter. At its widest, the ring is 8 mm, which then narrows down at the back to 2.5 mm.
As it is fairly flat, the ring will not catch on anything and can be worn every day. It has been enjoyed for well over 125 years, and it will continue to be loved.
