Delicate rutiles of gold, shimmer in this teardrop shaped, natural rutilated quartz pendant. Quartz in itself is found in abundance. But when it has these golden rutile inclusions, it is much less common. The rutiles, or needle-like inclusions form various patterns within the clear quartz. Rutile is a mineral in its own right, a form of natural titanium dioxide.
As it appears to contain gold, rutilated quartz is often sought out by the Chinese as a symbol of prosperity. But it also has a spiritual side of healing and creating an aura of love.
The pendant hangs on tiny champagne coloured cultured (freshwater) seed pearls, which hang between two oval shaped, brushed gold on silver beads (15 mm by 12.5 mm) from India.
The actual necklace is made up of champagne coloured cultured, freshwater keshi pearls ( 9mm). Some describe keshi pearls as cornflake pearls. But to me they create a frothy, light, textured effect, both contemporary and traditional.
