This butterfly figural pin is probably from the 1950s or 1960s, and is simple but a lot of fun. It is a trembler; both top and bottom of the wings are mounted on small springs to they flutter when the wearer moves. The springs on this piece are fairly long and loose so there is quite a bit of movement allowed. The body, antennae, and trim on the wings is a gold tone with a brushed finish. There are clear rhinestones on the head and ends of the antennae. The material of the wings is unusual. The fronts look almost like mother of pearly, but we believe they are actually some sort of plastic, maybe layered to achieve the iridescent effect on the front of the wings. The gold tone of the body has mellowed some - there is a touch of wear, but really it just adds to the vintage look. The pin measures 2 1/2" by x 1 1/2".
