Very decorative large Islamic metalwork from Ottoman Turkey. The wash basin with perforated lid represents great example of simple basins, which were extremely light, for they were made from very thin brass sheet. The stamp in the middle of basin bottom (see detail) in Arabic script is maker´s mark, coming from days, when Ottomans were still using Arabic alphabet (changed for Latin alphabet by founder of modern Turkey in 1920´s).
Overall it is very spectacular decor, which is real eye-catcher! Strong dark patina. Very reasonably priced.
MEASURES: wash basin height 13 cm, basin diameter 40 cm, bottom diameter 14,5 cm.
