The PERUZZI's of Italy made this sterling work of art. The pendant is a beautiful sterling antique design created sometime in the Victorian period from 1860 to 1900. It is signed by F. LLI PERUZZI, Italy 925. The rose pendant is reminiscent of the magnificent floral still life paintings popular at the time. The extra long chain with floral links and scalloped edges was created circa the 1890s and the style is Art Nouveau but borders on the Victorian period. The floral pattern relief (Repousse') covers the surface with flowers and leaves and coordinating links. Both pendant and chain are very Florentine and of the era. The pendant is attached to the chain by its original bail. Product details: weight: 38 grams; pendant is approximately 2 1/4 inches long by 1 1/4 inch wide; chain is 39 inches long. Necklace and pendant are in very good antique condition.
NOTE: The Peruzzi Brothers, silversmiths in Florence for over 150 years, were born in 1860 with Giuseppe Peruzzi and his wife Giulia. The Florentine metal crafting tradition on Ponte Vecchio continues today despite some lapses in time. The pendant is quite Victorian.
