For your consideration is a antique (Late 1800's to early 1900's) imitation pearl & metal filigree beaded necklace with a approximate 4"L small mesh purse attached at the end. The necklace is double stranded and at every 3" length of pearls there is a mixture of more pearls interspersed among small metal beads. A larger metal filigree design bead is situated in the center of each mixture. At the end or the necklace is a, approximate 2"L., metal chain link with a double faux pearl length of the same on each side of it. This chain is attached to the mesh purse. There is a lovely raised leaf design on both sides of the frame of the purse. At the top of the purse is a push button style working closure. This type of necklace was a way for a Victorian Lady to carry change, etc. around their necks and still look elegant. It also allowed them to not have to carry a purse! The closure at the top of the necklace is in very good & working condition. Approximate" 23"L. overall.
There is a dark patina on both the mesh purse & the filigree metal beads that was caused from use and age. When the purse is opened there is a small opening to the right inside where one of the links became disconnected. All flaws are minor and only mentioned for accuracy! Otherwise! This lovely piece is in very good, vintage & collectible condition.
