For your consideration is a vintage set of red plastic gas pump salt & pepper shakers. They both have their original paper pump design fronts, which are attached very well & tightly. One has Humble and the other has Esso Extra marked on them. The holes on top where the salt comes out is in the shape of a S on the Esso and a P on the Humble. You pull the bottoms off to fill the shakers with salt. On the inside of the plastic bottom that comes off it has the manufacturer's mark that reads: Ausco Inc., R.C., WOL. (It is hard to tell if the first letter is a W, M, or H on the WOL.) These shakers were a advertising novelty that were given away free to customers when they filled up with gasoline. They usually had the name and address of the gasoline station on the back of one of the shakers. This set reads in a gold tone print on the back of the Esso shaker: A. N. Wales Service Station, Phone 75, Florence, Texas. A lot of these shakers became a collectible and still are sought after! These are from around the 1950's. Except for the paper panels on the front having a crackle look, which was due to age, this set is in very good, vintage, collectible condition. Approx.: 2 1/4"T each.
