For your consideration is a wonderful & different vintage Spongeware Pottery Bowl. It has a blue on off-white interior and exterior, however, the maker went a step further to make it different. It was glazed over again in a more rustic reddish brown over the blue spongeware on the exterior. You can still see the blue spongeware design through the darker color, but this makes it a little different from any other spongeware bowl that I have seen! It has a reddish clay bottom with some light areas where it apparently sat on something or it was done during manufacturing. Hard to tell! There is some very tiny pontil spots on the bottom of the inside from where it sat in the kiln. There is also a very tiny white spot on the exterior and under the rim where the darker glaze did not take while in the kiln, approx. 1/4"L. All flaws are minor and only mentioned for accuracy! There is some light crazing overall, also! This bowl is in very good & unique vintage condition. No chips or cracks notes! Approx.: 3 1/2"D X 10 3/8"Rd. Unmarked!
