With thoughtful flowing strokes Mane-Katz (1894-1962) composes an expressionistic oil on panel portrait of an orthodox Jewish man and his son. Signed middle right M.K for Mané-Katz, circa 1945.Mounted in original giltwood frame and matted with beige felt.
Mane-Katz was a Litvak painter born in Ukraine best known for his depictions of the Jewish shtetl in Eastern Europe. "Father and Son" is more representative of his later works that utilized a more colorful palette.
