This is a huge, bold and beautiful sterling silver spray brooch with iconic 1940's styling that was made by a master silversmith from that era. It was purchased from an estate sale in Los Angeles.....I can picture it worn on a big shoulder padded jacket from that 1940s period!
It's marked "sterling" (and acid tested) on the back end of the ribbon tying the stems together; however, the stems don't seem to be sterling and there is a slight discoloration at the tips of 3 of the oxidized stems. The brooch has a nice patina and is shiny in the right places....beautiful contrasts. I leave the polishing up to the buyer as many collectors prefer the look of the natural aged patina. There is a lot of oxidation on the back side of the brooch that can be polished up. The long pin is slightly bent but it is of no consequence since it goes securely into the rollover clasp.
This wonderful brooch measures 5 1/2" long to the ends of the stems by 3" at its widest part. It is magnificent! The brooch will arrive in a pretty gift pouch.
Length is 5 1/2 inches. Width is 3 inches. Weight is 36gm.
