Antique Amish stuffed animal seal toy.
This subject of this wonderful piece of Pennsylvania folk art is quite scarce .
I have seen many different Folk art stuffed animals such as elephants and giraffes not to mention dogs and cats , however I have never seen a seal!
The seal is aprox 11 3/4 inches tall , hard stuffed with straw and made out of burlap? has original shoe button eyes. Hand stitched nose, mouth and hands
I am not sure if he is completely hand sewn or partial .
I love how his head is turned towards the left and is not not looking straight a head . It gives this wonderful toy more life and dimension!
I am thinking it was made by someone who never actually saw a seal but had heard descriptions because it has two legs. and a cute little tail
.While the lower body of the animal does not resemble a seal , from the waist up it is no doubt is a sea!
He would look great displayed by himself or grouped together with other Amish Animals.
