Some of us really, really old codgers remember going to the five-and-dime stores to look at and buy decorations for Christmas. It was so much fun to set up a Christmas village of small cardboard house and string lights to illuminate them at night. These are very collectible today. This is a pair of such houses that were made in Japan. They are a bit unusual in that they are painted to appear as red brick. The houses have white roofs. One has a chimney. Each has a bottle brush Christmas tree. One house has its original windows while the other has replacement telephone. They have a hole in the back for a light. The base of the larger house is 2" x 4". It measures 3" tall. The white has mica sparkling and silver glitter on the edge.
