This lovely soup plate measures 10 1/2" in diameter. The almost black printing with a bit of flow is referred to as mulberry. This plate has a grape-vine border with clusters of grapes. The center has 3 groups of flowers. The edge is slightly scalloped. The bottom is marked with a printed mark giving the name as VINE BORDER and the maker as J.&M.P. Bell & Co. There is also an impressed mark. Bell was a Glasgow pottery which made earthenwares from 1842-1928. This soup is in excellent condition.
