This large bowl was originally part of a bowl and pitcher set. The bowl itself can be used for many purchases today_ salad, pasta, or decoration. The pattern is TRIUMPHAL CAR, SWAN version made by J. & M.P. Bell, Glasgow Pottery. There are over 11 versions of this pattern recorded. The car or chariot is sometimes driven by horses; another pattern has the chariot driven by leopards. This version has a boat pulled by a swan. The order and cartouche vignettes vary as well. This one has a chariot pulled by leopards. The bowl is clearly marked. The inside, topside of the bowl is in very good condition. There is a large repair on the underside lip. This is a lovely bowl and displays quite well. The bowl measures 14 1/2" across the rim and 5" tall.
