This is absolutely magnificent. There are no marks, but it is European, possibly French. The papier mache tray itself has a texture. The ornate trim around the edge and and the base appears to be a harder material. It is similar to gutta percha. The top tray has a divider with four boxes. Each box has a petit point floral decoration on the lid framed by the gutta percha decoration. The boxes would have been used for chips or game pieces. The tray lifts out to reveal a lower tray. Four standard playing card decks fit perfectly. There are some nicks, but the condition is very good. The fabric lids have some soil. 12" x 9 1/2".
