This is not your plastic pencil box from the office supply. This box is a lovely wood. The top has painted red roses. There are two engraved designs on the sliding lid. An indention has been made in the lid for pulling the lid aside. When the lid is slid open, 4 pencil trays and erasure hole are revealed. The top tray can then be rotated to reveal three more slots for pens or pencils. There is a rusty lock but no key. There is writing on the bottom and sides of the box typical of a student. The way the bottom sides have a notch indicate that it may have belonged to a desk. The patina is really nice. The box measures 9" x 2" x 1 1/2".
