This box measures 11 3/4" x 9" x 5". The primary wood has a gorgeous grain. There is inlay strips around the edge of the lid. The corners are a lighter wood. The lighter wood is used in the diamond around the keyhole. I do not have a key. Because of the simple design on the outside, the intricate inlay inside the lid is a surprise. This appears to have been added at another time. The remaining inside is covered in shredded blue silk. Strips of wood remain for holding a tray. This very well have been a sewing box. There is some damage to the veneers as well as the condition of the inside lining. This box is a great size to use.
