This small box would have been carried by Victorian ladies for personal items. It is a bit bigger than a snuff box. It could have had smelling salt, hanky, coins, etc. The box measures 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 1". The box itself is made from thin bone. It resembles a light colored tortoise shell. The frame of the box is silver in color. There are no marks so I do not know if it is sterling or plate. It has a decorative catch and hinges. The top is painted with red roses and small blue flowers. Inside the lid is a surprise. There is a silver crest with two unicorns. This is an unusual small box.
