This large punch or soup ladle is marked with the L & W anchor mark of the Lee & Wigfull Silversmith in Sheffield England. The partnership dissolved in 1870 but Wigfull continued under the same name. In 1899 the firm was converted to a limited liability company. This ladle does not have the LTd. Therefore, it dates to the 1890's. The ladle measures 13" long. The bowl measures 3 1/4" x 3 3/4". If you have ever served punch with the plastic ladles, you know who difficult it is not to drip. The metal ladles are no much more satisfactory. The same argument applies to soup or stew. The silver has some wear and scratches, but is in really good condition.
