This is an elegantly shaped tin made in a series by Huntley, Boorne Stevens. The others in the series were Pompeian, Indian, and Christmas Casket. The image on the lid is a romantic landscape as the gentleman plates a stringed instrument for his lady. The image on one side is another landscape with many characters. The tin is missing most of the lithograph images on the front and two sides. The hinges are no longer attached. The lid fits tightly and can be reversed so that the lid image and the back-side image are viewed with correct orientation. This tin was issued circa 1895 by the Huntley & Palmers Biscuit company. There is a tiny hole in the base. This is a rare tin and quite desirable in spite of the missing lithograph images. The tin measures 7 1/2" x 4" 6 1/4".
