The colors on this 8 1/2" green transfer printed plate are lovely. The border is a bright green with four red flowers. There is a vine around the edge of the plate. The center has a large bowl of flowers. The bottom is marked with an English registry mark. The top of the mark is smeared making the year difficult to determine. The year in the top of the diamond makes the plate date 1842-67. It is also marked with the pattern, Excelsior, and the maker, George Wooliscroft. This is a Staffordshire, England potter. There are no chips or cracks. However the is a rather large flake of the glaze and color on the front of the plate on the top flower in the center. Still displays quite well.
