This British sampler is very early. It measures 14" x 14" framed. It is meticulously done with needlepoint stitches. There are rows of alphabet lets and numbers, decorative dividing lines, and beautiful images. In the center there is a floral wreath with initials. To the left of the wreath there is a house surrounded by trees. To the right is a pyramid shape (presumably a house) with trees. There are 5 more images of flowers and vases. The bottom center has the name Emilie Harruff Done 20 December 1837. The blue and green threads still have very good color. Others have faded. As you can see, there are several holes. Most are small, but one large one left below center. The frame is gold toned with gesso decoration. There is some damage to the gesso. In spite of the damage, this sampler is quite desirable.
