19th Century Hand-Colored Engraving of bird, REED WARBLER
I have become fascinated the last several years with the engravings and prints from natural history books. This particular print was purchased framed under round glass with braid. The mat was discolored and water stained. The glass was dirty. Therefore, I took it apart to discover the colored engraving with the name, REED WARBLER 115. It is obviously plate # 115 from a book. The print was in excellent condition. The glass has been cleaned and a fresh mat added. The braid was reattached. Like others of these I have purchased, the ends of the braid had unraveled. Therefore there was a gap. I have filled this gap with a matching bow. The presentation is now quite attractive. It measures 8 1/4".
