This painting is painted on masonite with an impasto style. The landscape has mountains covered with spruce trees. The style reminds me of my California uncle's paintings circa 1940-60. It measures 18" x 22 1/4" including the frame. The signature is in the lower left is in red and hard to make out positively. The date is 1948. The name appears to be R. Austin. The painting and frame display well. The paint has flaked off the service in places. The frame is in the arts and crafts style and most likely original to the painting.
