This is a lovely box that was originally a tea caddy. The inside has the foil lining. There is evidence there was a partition dividing it into two compartments. This is missing. There is a lock but no key. The wood is a hard grain wood with a honey color. I believe it is rosewood, but it could be walnut. There is white adornment with brass brads. The white may be bone or an early plastic like bakelite. This decoration is around the lock, straps across the domed lid and a center decoration on the lid. The bottom has burlap on the bottom. The box measures 7 3/4" x 4 1/4" x 5" tall. The outside of the box is pristine. Only the inside of the box is missing its original function.
