My favorite pieces of pyrography are the painted pieces. This desk box has a large poinsettia on the lid with red painted petals and yellow center. The design is deeply burned with the design and has a gloss varnish (unusual). The object is a nice desk box. The front has a pen tray for the ink pen. The lid opens to reveal two glass ink wells. The ink well tray lifts out so that there is some storage under the wells. This dates circa 1900. It measures 8 1/2" x 6" x 2 1/2". It is in amazing condition. I few scars on the corners.
