When you talk about something being "older than dirt", you would be talking about this pewter plate. The plate measures 9 1/8" in diameter. The rim is 1 1/4" wide. The bottom is marked with touch marks identifying the plate was made by Samuel Ellis, London, early 1700's. There is a rather rough surface. The edge is worn on one side. If you want really early pewter, this is a good example.
