This is a nice large box measuring 9" x 12" x 5 1/2". The lid is domed with a spiral decoration around the crown at the top. One piece of the spiral wood is missing from the back corner. There is a Mother-of-pearl triangle in the center of the domed lid and a matching piece as the escutcheon around the lock. There are small round MOP pieces along the metal stringing on front, sides, and lid. Part of the metal stringing is missing. Only one MOP circle is missing. The wood is mahogany with a great patina. The inside of the box is clean but missing its original configuration. As you can see from the last photo, there were originally pad feet. These are missing. On the ends of the box, there are wood hooked shaped pieces. I do not know the purpose intended. One has been partially broken. The box is beautiful and displays quite nicely in spite of the flaws. Very minor damage to the veneer.
