This is an AMAZING C.1940 Sterling Silver Western Motif Horse Ring from out of the 'Old West'. Equine jewelry has "ALL the bells & whistles". The front is rectangular and features a nicely detailed horse head with bridle in high relief. The background is textured with an oxidized finish and the horse is framed by 'rope'.
The 'shoulders' have what looks like leather belts with buckles intertwined with a horseshoe. Inside the horseshoe on one side is a Cowboy (complete with his hat) on top of a horse... possibly a bucking bronco at a rodeo? The other side has a cactus and a hillside? Below each of these designs is a small engraved Southwestern style flower.
GREAT Looking late Art Deco period Cowboy accessory MEASURES ~ 7/8 Inches N-S and is quite HEFTY... Weighs over 18 Grams (1/2+ Troy Oz.). It is a Size 10 on my ring wand and could easily be sized up a bit by an experienced bench jeweler ~ silversmith. Wild West Cowboy era jewelry is impressed "STERLING" inside the band but nothing to indicate the QUALITY maker. You will find it to be in VERY GOOD CONDITION! Only light wear from TREASURED use over the past 80 Years! It was completely black when I found it... has only received a light cleaning - Old Patina remains highlighting all of its SUPERB details. Minute stress mark that I believe occurred when originally made - where it is Marked (shown in photo).
Oh YES..... FABULOUS Gift for your Favorite Cowboy (Cowgirl) or Horse ~ Equestrian Collector. One of THE BEST vintage pieces of Southwestern Sterling Cowboy jewelry I have seen.
