This is a GREAT LOOKING pair of C.1945 -1955 Mid Century Modernist Vermeil? Sterling Guilloche Enamel Cufflinks. The faces of these SLEEK Cufflinks are Slightly Curved and Square shaped with Rounded Edges - they actually remind me of a vintage black & white television screen. The clean lines of German Bauhaus had a strong influence on Scandinavian design of the Post-War era and these links are a prime example. The guilloche enameled cuff links have very linear 'pinstripe' designs & the color of the enamel is a pale icy blue ~ silver ~ lavender. I haven't seen Scandinavian jewelry enameled in this pale palette/shade. The Rectangular swivel backs are the same color but a completely different design below the enamel - cross hatched diamonds.

While doing some research on this particular design by Askel Holmsen, I came across a pair of 50's clip earrings that are an identical match to the faces (in green) and a Ring in Turquoise blue.

MCM Cufflinks are embossed "STERLING" and "NORWAY" on the back of each face. In addition, the swivel connecting bar is embossed on one side "NORWAY STERLING" and on the other "925S" and what looks like 2 sideways, back to back "W"s - the Hallmark of the well-known designer Askel Holmsen of Sandefjord, Norway. Holmsen trained with master jeweler David Andersen, became certified & then opened his own “smithy” in 1906. Holmsen’s clean angular (Bauhaus-inspired) lines became a part of Scandinavian Modern’s fresh, new look.

All of the pictures shown were taken right after I purchased the cufflinks from a Mohawk Valley estate. I have since lightly cleaned them (primarily on the back side). 70 +/- Year Old Norwegian Enamel Cufflinks are in VERY GOOD CONDITION! I see NO NICKS, CHIPS, CRACKS, Burst Bubbles, Loss or Excessive Wear to the COOL Enamel - even under 10 Power magnification! DON’T miss the chance to add this Vintage fashion accessory to your silver Cufflink, SIGNED Norwegian guilloche enamel, Mid Century or Scandinavian ~ Danish silver jewelry Collection. PERFECTLY stylish for a man or woman and GUARANTEED not to disappoint!
