Vintage Sterling Silver jewelry was handcrafted by a Native American silversmith - possibly from the Navajo tribe. Finely Detailed Southwestern silver accessory has BOLD hand stamped designs that appear to have made the center section of the brooch to be "in high relief". In addition, there are different sized silver 'beads' or Raindrops with a loop of silver wire around them across the raised area. If you look very closely at this early piece of pawn jewelry, you can see that it was cut out of a larger piece/sheet of silver by hand and then shaped.
American Indian jewelry is 3 Dimensional and has crisp, sharp details - which I hope you can see in my photos. Southwestern silver brooch looks like old pawn to me.... MEASURES a Whopping 2 7/8 Inches Across, ~ 1 Inch at Widest in Center and WEIGHS Over 10 Grams (~ 1/3 Troy Oz). Unfortunately the talented silversmith who created this great looking piece did not sign it... also unmarked as to silver content. I GUARANTEE it to be SOLID Silver made from either coins or ingots.
This hand made brooch Dates C.1925-1940 and is in VERY GOOD CONDITION! NO excessive signs of wear - retains original locking clasp, hinge & pin stem. I have not cleaned or polished it - old dark patina (I LOVE IT!!!) is intact as is some white residue from liquid metal polish (years ago).
I can see it securely pinned at the collar or pocket on a plaid or denim shirt ~ white flowing blouse, on a denim jacket ~ blazer, waist of a skirt or worn on a hatband. You will not be disappointed - it has THE Look ... Perfect chic for a man or woman. SUPERB Gift or addition to your Native American silver jewelry collection!
