Fresh from a wealthy & well established Columbia County NY family estate (never offered for sale before) is an uncommon piece of silver coin jewelry. The 5 PESETA coin is from Spain and Dated 1871. The front depicts pillars, a crown plus a heraldic shield with a coat of arms. The reverse has the image of AMADEO I King of Spain. There are also other words and COOL 6 pointed stars around the edge of the coin.
Antique Coin pin is slightly domed - similar to a clothing button & retains its ORIGINAL Fully Functional Victorian Tubular Hinge, Pin Stem and "C" Clasp. It is made of '900' silver, WEIGHS 25.9 Grams, Measures 1 1/2 Inches in Diameter and is in UNTOUCHED CONDITION.
I am not a numismatist ~ coin expert or collector. To this "antique jewelry dealer", the details on the Coin brooch are VERY CRISP with little wear. I enjoy the history & sentimentality of antique silver coin jewelry... this piece was probably brought back from a trip across the Atlantic Ocean - wealthy families could afford to go on a 'Grand Tour' through Europe.
