This is an AUTHENTIC WW2 Era Pin that was worn stateside by a Mother who had a son in active military service in the United States Army Air Corps (Air Force) as a PILOT.
Sterling Silver 1940's USAF homefront pin is 2 separate pieces connected by a small silver loop. The Upper Pin is very similar in its design to a link in the 'friendship' bracelets from that era - with leafy flourishes on either side of a small flower. There is a Multi-Color Enamel (Candy Apple Red, Bright White & Cobalt Blue) rectangle with a 5 Pointed STAR in the center... symbolizing the 'Son In Service'. Dangling below is a Nicely Detailed Miniature Pilot Wings with a Propeller thru the center.
Enameled "In Active Service" Pin MEASURES ~ 11/16 x 7/16 Inches, is Marked "STERLING" on the reverse & retains its ORIGINAL Fully Functional ALL 1 piece silver wire 'C' Clasp, Hinge & Pin Stem. Pilots Wings MEASURES ~ 1/2 Inch in both directions and is unmarked. Military pin ~ collectible is in VERY GOOD CONDITION! Has not been cleaned ~ polished - just as it came from a Bennington, Vt area Estate (displays OLD dark patina that could easily be removed if so desired).
