This is a STRIKING Brooch that was handcrafted by a Native American Silversmith. Southwestern jewelry is designed as a Starburst or Sun and utilizes the Needlepoint stones the Zuni tribe is well known for. This particular piece is created entirely of CORAL stones. At the center is a Round "Snake Eye" set into a sawtooth bezel and surrounded by twisted silver 'rope' wire. There are 8 'RAYS' or possibly petals that shoot of of the center... each holding a piece of DEEP Orange Color Needlepoint Coral - set in a narrow serrated ~ saw-tooth bezel. At the tip of each ray ~ petal is a tiny round bead of silver.
Vintage Zuni Pendant appears 3 Dimensional because the entire piece has a Dark oxidized background. The contrast makes the genuine coral pieces really stand out. Native American coral accessory is Marked on the Reverse with the silversmith's initials (HBC ? HRC ? JBC?) and "ZUNI". I am not 100% certain who the craftsman is/was however; I do know it was beautifully crafted and is SOLID Sterling Silver.
Zuni jewelry MEASURES ~ 1 1/2 Inches in Diameter and is in VERY GOOD CONDITION! ...has not recently been professional buffed/polished & can be worn as a pin ~ brooch or as a pendant on a sterling chain or leather thong - retains original fully functional locking clasp, hinge, pin stem and soldered loop for the chain.
