This Elegant Filigree style Lavaliere Pendant Dates to the Late Victorian ~ Early Edwardian period and is Yellow Gold. This particular lavaliere is actually made of 3 separate pieces of gold and has several unique/unusual elements. The construction of its ORIGINAL bail (for a pendant chain) is not what you usually see... from the front it appears as a fluted triangular shape (typical) however; it is actually divided so the integral fixed loop at the top of the pendant never touches the opening for the chain. I hope you can see that in my photo. The focal point is the bottom section that holds an oval faceted Peridot (has not been evaluated by a gemologist & may be glass, synthetic, spinel or genuine) set in a 6 prong open-back mounting.
Unlike many lavaliere necklaces from this era, there never was a (rice) freshwater pearl dangling off the bottom. Antique Pendant (with August Birthstone) is in VERY NICE CONDITION! It MEASURES ~ 1 5/8 Inches Top to Btm. & is Marked "GLP CO 10K" on the INSIDE of the Bail - making it virtually impossible to get a clear photo. George L. Paine & Co was located in North Attleboro, Mass. and was only in business from 1909-1922.
AUTHENTIC Victorian ~ Edwardian era jewelry would make an AMAZING Gift or addition to your ANTIQUE Gold Lavalier or Peridot jewelry collection!
