This a BEAUTIFUL Art Nouveau locket by Wightman & Hough Co. (in operation from 1856-1922). AUTHENTIC Early 1900s Gold Fill photo locket is HIGHLY Detailed & depicts a pretty young lady (in profile) with her long hair flowing & winding tendrils around her neck. Behind her is either a finely detailed 4 leaf clover or some other variety of 4 petal flower. The Good Luck symbol and her image rise out of the background and retain their original 18k Gold (color) 'bloom' which has a deliberately non-mirror like ‘finish of the metal.
RARE 110 +/- Year Old Repoussee style Nouveau jewelry retains its 2 original photo frames and protective coverings & is clearly Marked inside on a raised circular plaque "W&H Co" within a tiny heart... the Hallmark for the quality manufacturer Wightman & Hough. The back cover of the locket is slightly rounded and exquisitely engraved with 3 Initials in script lettering. The first I'm fairly certain is a "C" but I am not 100% sure of the others... the last may be an "H".
Romantic Art Nouveau Locket MEASURES ~ 1 1/4 Inches in Diameter (excluding integral loop at top) and dangles from a Gold Filled ~ 18 Inch Long Link Chain. You will find this fabulous example of Art Nouveau jewelry to be in VERY FINE CONDITION! NO DINGS, DENTS, REPAIRS or Excessive Wear... Hinge (at bottom) is tight and clasp "snaps" and holds securely - there is a 'notch' at the 11 o'clock position to make it easier to open. Locket has not been cleaned ~ polished & only under close inspection can you see minute high point wear to the RICH yellow gold bloom from treasured use. I would rate it a 9 on a scale of 10... I am VERY fussy about condition.
Would make an AMAZING Gift or Addition to your GENUINE Art Nouveau Jewelry or Locket Collection.
