This piece of Mid Century SIGNED Silver jewelry was created by the Highly Collectible Mid Century Modern jewelry manufacturer "Orb". The company name was derived from the first letter of his 1st, middle & last name - Otto Robert Bade who worked as a designer for Rebajes before he went out on his own. He acquired Frank Rebaje's business (including his machinery) when Rebajes relocated to Spain in 1958.
I have never seen this ORB Modernist pendant ~ charm before... designed to represent a human who may be folk dancing ~ floating or just plain HAPPY! 55 +/- year old artisan signed silver jewelry is 'cut-out' and very sculptural in its design. Figural pendant MEASURES ~ 1 1/2 Inches Top to Btm. (excluding loop at top for a silver pendant chain ~ torque or leather thong) and is clearly Marked "ORB STERLING" on the reverse. You will find this UNCOMMON piece of ORB jewelry to be in VERY GOOD CONDITION! ...found near Cape Cod - recent light cleaning revealed its deliberately 'dull' finish (non - mirror/shiny) to the metal... may have been made with a protective lacquer finish to help retard tarnish.
GREAT looking 'Wearable Art' jewelry would make a wonderful gift (for a man or woman) or addition to your Mid Century, Figural or Orb silver jewelry collection.
