C.1910 European Silver Cross caught my eye from across the room. The jeweler who designed it used a graver tool to curl a bit of the silver in several places over the edge of the Persian Turquoise cabochon (glass or porcelain) and the marcasite ~ pyrite stones to secure them. This is another way to determine the age and authenticity of an ANTIQUE piece of marcasite jewelry.
Edwardian Era Silver Cross is completely original including its Persian turquoise set at the very center, 17 marcasites on the terminals & the hand engraved palm leaf shape bail for a pendant chain. I have searched all over it using a 10 power loupe and do not see any hallmarks... I GUARANTEE it to be precious silver - possibly '800' or '835'. You can tell the QUALITY of this hand crafted antique piece of religious jewelry... the trefoil shape of each terminal and the tiny silver beads that are applied to them (and around the turquoise cabochon in the center).
Middle Eastern or European Silver Cross is in VERY GOOD CONDITION - MEASURES ~ 1 1/8 Inches Top to Btm. including ornate bail for a pendant chain. Found on Cape Cod... has not been cleaned ~ polished recently & displays age appropriate patina - Marcasites are Sparkly! Sterling Silver Chains are available at an additional cost - if needed please inquire.
Don't miss the chance to add this Heirloom Antique Cross to your Edwardian silver or religious jewelry collection!
