This is a WONDERFUL & Romantic piece of WWI Era Sweetheart Jewelry. It is constructed of six 3 Pence silver coins... four of them have the heads of King George V and 2 the obverse of those same coins... one is Dated 1917 and the other 1918 (time of the American Expeditionary Forces). The FOCAL Point is at the center where several different coins were filed smooth and cut into HEART shapes and stacked one on top of the other (3 total). If you look closely, you can see something that was part of the original coin (writing or design) on the btm. heart. From the info I have found; 3 pence coins of this period are 92.5% Silver.
The Link Bracelet is made of 'double' pieces of chain and where they cross the smooth sides of the coins they are soldered "stiff". The chain bracelet is only flexible between the coins and at either end. No doubt an American soldier serving in England during the War had this piece made for "his girl" back home. The Hand crafted HEART in the center of the WWI Trench Art ~ Sweetheart jewelry is just shy of 1 Inch N-S, End to End the Bracelet MEASURES ~ 7 Inches & could be made longer by adding a few more loops. You will find it to be in VERY GOOD CONDITION! Retains its ORIGINAL period oversize Spring Ring Clasp Marked "STG".... shows only minimal wear from TREASURED use and may have been polished within the past 25 years.
A TRULY FINE example for your WW1 memorabilia, sweetheart, home-front, British Military, American GI, Soldier or Coin Jewelry ~ Silver Bracelet Collection!
